It’s A Hit!

Continuing the trend of quotes from musicals in the subject line of the blog entries, bonus points to whoever knows this one! (that means you, Jen Tepper).

The second week of the festival is underway, and this weekend I had an amazing time seeing FOUR NYMF shows/events! On Saturday night, I saw R.R.R.E.D, one of the special events this year, and it was awesome! A great way for me to kick off my festival-show-seeing. I’m a huge Katie Thompson fan, so seeing something she wrote and was starring in was really exciting (and if you don’t have her albums, hit that up on iTunes because it kicks ass)!

On Sunday, I saw Judas & Me and the final round of NYMF’s Next Broadway Sensation! Judas & Me was absolutely hysterical – I LOVED it. And of course, that cast can’t be beat. For NNBS, congrats to Cassie Wooley, this year’s winner! I was with Rachel, and we had a great time interviewing Academy, Susan Blackwell who hosted, and Allison Case who was a judge! Keep a look out for the footage on the vlog! Then on Monday night, I got to see The ToyMaker. Margaret, another student leader, is production assistant, and I went with her. The show completely blew me away. Really, get your tickets now.

I’m going to try to cram in as many shows as I can in the next week and a half, so I’ll be updating this baby pretty often :) GET YOUR TICKETS!!

Talkback at Columbia University!

Hi everybody!  Kley here.

For those that haven’t already seen it plastered all over facebook, we’d like to draw your attention to a fantastic opportunity coming your way this coming Thursday, October 1st.  That’s only two days kids!

We’re going to be having a NYMF talkback!  The composers, lyricists, and librettists of  Open the Dark Door, F#@king Up Everything, and Punk Princess, David Lefort Nugent, David Eric Davis, Sam Forman, Yasmine Lever, and Heidi Rodewald, will be in attendance for a discussion about their works, how they got their starts, how they write, and the problems they face. The event will be moderated by Eve Rybnick and Laura Hedli.  You need not have seen the shows to attend.

Here’s the nitty-gritty:

WHAT:  A talkback with the writers of Open the Dark Door, F#@king Up Everything, and Punk Princess
WHEN: Thursday, October 11th, 7pm-9pm
WHERE: Earl Hall, Columbia University (Take the 1 train to 116th st, and find Earl Hall in dark blue on this map.)
COST OF ADMISSION: IT’S FREE!!!
HOW TO GET IN: If you are a Columbia or Barnard student or affiliate, just bring your CUID. If you aren’t, you may still attend, just be sure to RSVP on our facebook group by clicking “attend” or by emailing your name to nymfstudents@gmail.com.

WE WANT TO SEE ALL OF YOU THERE!!!  It’s a great opportunity, and it’s FREE!  No excuses!  We like to extend much thanks to the NOMADS at Columbia for helping to sponsor this amazing event.  Keep an eye out for another talkback coming your way at NYU as well.
